Activities Committee -January/February 2013 Newsletter
Howdy All,
I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Before I talk about the future, I want to discuss what we have been doing so far.
In November, we had our second Comedy Show of the year and once again with the help of all of the great volunteers, it was another huge success.

We also finished up strong with the OSU vs Michigan Football game.

Onto the future, Saturday January, 26, we will be having a dinner from 5-8 pm, and then at 8:00 we will be having the return of the “Not So Newlywed Game”
Tickets will be $5.00 per couple to participate in the game.
We will be giving out prizes for the top 3 couples (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners).
Please see the bartender on duty to purchase the participate tickets starting 1-7-13.
This is always a very entertaining and fun event, even if you do not wish to participate, please come and join us for the fun.

Events we are planning for next year will be the “deal or no deal” game, another comedy show in April, and I am trying to work on a spring bus trip – moose hop, another car show, any many other things so keep your eyes peeled for our flyers and Facebook announcements.

As always, we are still in need of help with the Wednesday night dinners as well as activities and events.
If you have any suggestions, or are interested in helping in any way, pleases see me.

Thanks again for all of your support,

Mike Roeder
Activity Committee Chair

Moose Riders - November/December 2012 Newsletter
Here we are rounding the corner to the end of another year. Where does time go? September and October were two very busy, but productive, months for the Circleville Moose Riders.
For the past seven years, the Circleville Moose Riders have held a poker run in memory of a fallen member, Sam Stumbo, with all proceeds donated to Pickaway county’s veterans. On September 15th two charitable motorcycle organizations, New Holland's "Spokes for Folks" and Chillicothe's "Booze Fighters" joined forces with our herd in efforts to raise funds for the Veterans of Pickaway and Ross counties. Each group conducted separate poker runs and headed out in three different directions. Circleville's Moose Riders herd consisted of approximately 70 bikes as we took to the road for an unforgettable run. Due to the generosity of several local business establishments many choice items were donated for a Chinese Auction that was held later in the evening. An outstanding total of $3400.00 was raised as result of the weekend's events. On September 29th, a check in the amount of $1700.00 was presented to Neil Miller of The Chillicothe Veterans Administration and will be disbursed amongst those Veterans with special needs. The remaining $1700.00 will be distributed to various veteran facilities located in Pickaway county. Due to the success of this event, the "Stumbo Memorial Run, Pale Rider Memorial Run and the Spokes For Folks Veterans Run" will be continued as an annual event in future years in support of Pickaway and Ross county veterans. A huge "Thank You!" goes out to all of you who helped to make this event such a great memorial.
Although attendance was low for the September 22nd Bike-A-Rama/Camp-A-Rama, Bellefontaine Moose Riders were truly gracious hosts. Despite a little rain and a whole lot of wind, Sabrina and Sally held their own in the bike games with a win on the "weenie bite" and a tie for first place on the "ring toss". We ate well, made many new friends and we all had a blast.
We had a great turnout for the October 6th covered bridge run as 25 riders had the opportunity to witness a few landmarks still existing in Ohio.
On October 20th, Circleville hosted the OSMA State Moose Riders Quarterly meeting and had 19 members in attendance. The chili, grilled cheese, and hot dogs were a big hit and were quickly devoured. Thanks everyone for your donations. Later in the evening, we were graced by the presence of moose rider members from six other Moose Lodges (Florida, Dayton, Harrison, Bellefontaine, Buckeye Lake and Barberton), as we headed down town to board the Moose Rider float for the final parade of the 2012 Pumpkin Show. The adrenaline was certainly flowing as we arrived at the parade line up and discovered that our float was displaying a big beautiful blue ribbon and had been awarded 1st place in the Fraternal/Civic group competition! Great job everyone and kudos to all of you who helped in the making of a FIRST EVER WIN for the Moose Rider float competition!!
Then, as the clock rolled over to Sunday, October 21st, 18 moose riders set out to enjoy southern Ohio's beautiful changing of the leaves.
The Moose Riders Election for 2013 Officers will be held November 11th at 6 pm, we encourage all members to attend:
President: Jamie Arnold-unopposed
Vice President: Ryan Mason-unopposed
Secretary: Tracy McClelland-unopposed
Treasurer: Butch Llama-unopposed
Sargent of Arms: Rob Reisinger-unopposed
Road Captain: Jerry Campbell & C R McClelland
Public Relations: Sally Henkle-unopposed
Chaplain: Rick Cherry-unopposed
For those of you who may or may not be familiar with "Dixie Stampede" … the Circleville Moose Riders has a real treat in store for everyone on Friday, November 16th. "Y’all come", 'cause you'll definitely regret it if you miss this one.
Pot roast with biscuit is on the menu for December 21st. The Christmas Party for all the Moose Riders will be December 8th and as in the past, will include a gift exchange for those who wish to participate. This is a great opportunity for all who have supported, volunteered and shared the fun and laughter throughout the year to come together. Thank you everyone for an absolutely fantastic year!
Happy Holidays,
Sally Henkle
Secretary

Moose Legion - November/December 2012 Newsletter
Hello to all! We haven’t been doing too much, so this will be rather short.
I am still waiting on everyone’s great ideas to come in, so please come see me, or post a note on our bulletin board located by the middle window in the social quarters.
We had our Halloween Party on October 26, 2012; several people came out in costume (including TEN, bib-overall wearing Jeff McClanahan’s!!!) and it was a great night! Check out the pictures on Facebook!
We are still doing dinners on the second and fourth Friday of each month.
As always, we are still looking for help, as well as ideas.
Please continue to watch for our flyers for the Moose Legion events and dinners coming up.
At our last meeting, the members decided to hold meetings every other month. The meetings will still be on Wednesday’s at 7:00 pm. Our next meeting is December 14th.
I would like to thank everyone who attend our meetings and those who helped with the events and dinners.
Thanks again for all your support!

Moose Riders ~ Sally Henkle
September/October 2012 Newsletter

After twenty miles into our ride to Indian Lake to attend the July 14th OSMA moose rider meeting, eight Circleville members were pounded upon by pouring down rain on route 270. And if the rain wasn't bad enough, we were right in the area of the road construction and unable to pull over to put on our rain gear. However, we persevered and within approximately 15 miles, the sun shined on us for the remainder of the day and provided for quite an enjoyable ride.
Thanks to the efforts of CR, Tracy and friends the July 21st first memorial for Mike Forrest was a huge success. More than 60 bikes and passengers took to the road for the poker run. With the many great items donated to the Chinese auction, a 50/50 raffle, a couple of large item raffles and the food, a "whopping" total of $3, 027.00 was raised. All funds were donated to Pickaway County's foster child care facility, "A New Leaf Inc."
The 13th annual biker bash on August 10 - 11 was again a huge hit! As result of all the dirt, sweat and hard work of Danny, Joe, Lewie, Buzz, Bryan and David, the additional electrical hook ups definitely proved to be a necessary feature that attracted more camper enthusiasts. Thanks guys for a job well done. As in all Moose Rider events, it requires the work of the entire herd to make the end results successful. So, special thanks go out to all of you who "stepped up" and made it happen!
The OSMA Convention was held August 15th - 18th and was well represented by the Circleville Moose Fraternity. Congratulations to the Dayton Moose Riders on their wins at the Buckeye Awards Presentation for "Moose Rider of the Year" and "Herd of the Year". Circleville's Moose Riders have set the pace for the entire state and these annual awards will undoubtedly become more competitive in the future. However, with the Circleville's members love of riding and dedication, it is inevitable, that those trophies will find their way back to our herd.
As the month of August, commonly known as the "Dog Days of Summer", comes to an end, so does Thursday's "Bike Night". To all you frog leg lovers, remember you'll have it to look forward to in May of 2013. We're headed into the months of September and October with a full calendar. Nominations for next year’s Moose Rider officers is on the agenda for the September 9th Moose Rider Meeting. Anyone interested in becoming an officer, please plan to attend this meeting.
A new weekend event will take place beginning on the eve of September 14th and includes the entire day of the 15th. Members of the "Spokes For Folks" and the "Booze Fighters" will be joining the Circleville Moose Riders Stumbo Memorial Run in holding the "Vet Fest". All proceeds from this event will be donated to Pickaway and Ross Counties Veterans. The activities will be similar to those held at our biker bashes, so there's no doubt that the weekend will be a blast. You won't want to miss this event.
For the September 21st dinner we will be serving Marzetti, Garlic Bread and a Salad.
Then on the 22nd, we will be attending the Bike-A-Rama at the Eagle Campground in Bellefontaine where we will also have the drawing for the beautiful handmade quilt. Keep in mind that this quilt is a "one of its kind" and would be a perfect family heirloom to pass down from generation to generation. As we go forward into the fall months, we still have several months left of the 2012 riding season. On October 6th, we will be doing our annual "Covered Bridge Run" which offers a few historic sites still existing in our state. And on October 7th, the Circleville Moose Riders will be joining the Roundtown Cruisers for a Car and Bike Show, so, spruce up your wheels and roll in. Trophies will be awarded to several designated classes!!
Since the Pumpkin Show begins October 17th, it's only appropriate to serve pumpkin burgers for our dinner on October 19th. Moose Riders will be entering a float in the pumpkin show parades again this year. The theme is undetermined at this time, be prepared as we will be recruiting volunteers to help. We will post a schedule of the parades that we will be participating in as soon as we are advised by the Pumpkin Show Committee, so be sure to check the Moose Rider board for the parade schedule.
On October 20th, Circleville will be hosting the OSMA Moose Rider's quarterly meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m. As a reminder to the Lady Moose Riders, we will hold a brief meeting beginning around 12 noon. We will be serving grilled cheese sandwiches and chili immediately following the meeting.
Then on the 21st of October we will head out for the Leaf Run to enjoy Ohio's beautiful scenery of the changing of the leaves.

Rebuilding Moose Lodge 2440 eMail Contact List
Please send an email to moose43113@gmail.com and request we add you to the email list. If you have already sent your information to the Yahoo account, thank you, we've added you.

On July 3, 2012 the Moose Yahoo account, used to send lodge newsletters, was hacked. The address lists were wiped out. You may have received an email that appeared to be from the Moose with the subject “This is a Terrible Experience - I indeed need your help urgently Please HELP!” Rest assured this was not a legitimate request for help and was not from your Moose Lodge.

In the unlikely event this would happen again, we have taken the following precautions: changed the password to the Yahoo account, scheduled regular back-ups of the re-built contact list, migrated to a new email (Gmail) account.

Moose Activities Committee July-August 2012 Newsletter
Hello to all,

Well folks we have had two meetings and finally getting some things started! The first thing we will start with is a NASCAR pool for the weekly races put together by Roger Palmer so look at the bar for these pools. Over the next month we will be starting a pool for the OSU vs. Michigan football game see me for more info on that!

Looking into the near future we are going to get a sub committee together and set a night throughout the week to start teaching anyone interested how to line dance to today’s most popular music , watch for a flier for the start of this.

At our last meeting we decided to help Floyd Woolever with the lodges annual car show to be held on October 7th.
In order to make this event a success we need help working the event as well as getting sponsors and donations if you are interested please contact Floyd or myself.

Please come to the lodge on Wednesday nights and support your activities committee by purchasing dinners!!!

The purpose of the activities committee will be to handle family functions and sporting events.
Every member of this lodge man or women is automatically a member of this committee.

We hope that everyone will choose to exercise this membership and have some fun with helping to plan events and dinners.

Please see Mike Roeder for any comments, concerns, or idea’s.

Thank You,
Mike Roeder
Committee Chair

Moose Legion July-August 2012 Newsletter
Hello to all, I hope everyone is having a great and safe summer.

On May 5th we had our second annual family picnic and I’m proud to say that it was once again a success! Every entity of the lodge did something to help ,the officers cooked the meats, the WOTM did things with the younger children , the moose riders conducted the family games and Rusty handled the music .As of right now the Moose Legion is in a holding pattern till we get some dates confirmed for future events so look around for fliers to be posted.

Our dinner’s will continue on the second and fourth Friday of each month, watch for flyers for the menu. On the 2nd Friday of each month, we will continue to have our Fried Perch.
On the 4th Friday of each month, we will wing it depending on the weather and the queen of hearts.

We are currently looking for a committee chair if anyone is interested, please contact Mike Roeder or Jeff McClanahan.

Please join us for our next Legion meeting which will be held on Wednesday August 8th @ 7:00PM Our meetings are very informal and usually only last about 30 minutes, so please bring your ideas.

Thanks Again for all your support!

Committee Chair

MOOSE RIDERS
JULY AND AUGUST 2012 NEWSLETTER

The road demons were certainly warded off for two of our riders traveling to Mooseheart for the Blessing of the Bikes and the Laptop presentation. Joe and Rob left Ohio on Wednesday, May 16th, arrived in Florida that evening, then headed out to Chicago early on Friday morning. They arrived in Illinois that afternoon just in time to join up with five other riders from Circleville who were headed for the same destination. On Sunday, immediately following the graduating senior's laptop presentation, a few of us were dreading the 400 mile trip home, but to Joe and Rob it was "a piece of cake". The Circleville Moose Riders consider ourselves fortunate to have these two men as members of our group and are proud of their heartfelt efforts toward the support of our most worthy "Twin Cities. Whether one travels ten miles or hundreds of miles, this is a trip that one never forgets. The smiles on these children's faces are implanted in our minds forever.

Danny and Georgia lead our herd in the Memorial Day Parade on May 28th. The banners on their pick-up displaying all the charities supported by the Circleville Moose Riders always attracts the attention of the spectators and is definitely an effective approach toward informing the community what we are all about.

We lucked out this year for the June 2nd's third annual Spring Biker Bash. Although the chill in the air brought out jackets and sweatshirts, the sun shined throughout the entire day. Approximately 35 riders took to the road for the poker run. Congratulations to Lisa Hall, a member of our neighboring Logan Moose Fraternity, for winning the best hand. And, one has to wonder what goes on in the minds of the individual(s) responsible for creating the game events!! In addition to the slow race, barrel race and road kill, two new games were introduced this year. The "wheel barrel race" could have been described as a "crash up derby" as the participants rounded the cones too close for comfort with their passengers finding themselves looking up from the ground! What's a little grass stain when it comes to really having a good time! And, the game of "kick ball", as we know it, will never again be the same. Each player must have a beer in his hand and before he makes any contact with the ball, he must take a drink. Heaven forbid, should catching the ball take priority causing the player to drop his beer. Consequences could be costly. The two teams played a great game as well as providing much entertainment to the spectators.

The 30th anniversary of Ohio's Special Olympics/Tent Town was held the weekend of June 22nd. Several members represented the Circleville Moose Riders by volunteering their assistance with the games that are held for our special persons.

The long awaited summer months are flying by much too quickly as we forge into July and August. On July 14th, we'll be attending the OSMA meeting hosted by the Indian Lake Moose Lodge. Then on July 21st, Circleville's herd will be heading out on a benefit run in remembrance of our beloved fallen member, Mike Forrest.

The brains are already in motion for the weekend of August 10th - 11th, the annual Fall Biker Bash. This is Circleville Moose Riders major event of the year and attendance is continually on the rise, so, mark your calendars now, for we not only promise a good time, we guarantee it! The Spring Bash is just a preview of what's in store for the Fall Bash. Last year's game "Oh Sheet" is back by popular demand and one can only imagine what other hilarious games are in the works. We'll be kicking up our heels to the highly sought-after band "Hamilton Forrest" on Friday and Saturday night. There will be plenty of good food provided by a food vender, and, keep in mind, that additional electric hook-ups have been installed for all you campers. There are also hotel accommodations nearby for your over-night convenience. For those of you have an artistic ability, try your hand at designing a logo to be printed on the bash's t-shirt. Entries must be submitted by July 8th.

Our July 20th dinner will be quesadillas (chicken or hamburger) or taco salad. And, on August 17th we'll be serving the ever so popular bologna sandwiches, chips and a pickle. OSMA State Convention will be held August 15th - 18th and provides the necessary information for Moose Members to stay on board with any new rules/regulations regarding our lodge's operations. It is also a great opportunity to enjoy the comradery of our fellow lodge members.

And, don't forget that Thursday's "Bike Night" has begun. The Circleville Moose Riders are serving up frog legs, shrimp and dumpster fries every Thursday night until Labor Day. The price of a dinner can't be beat, and, you have the advantage of reduced prices on your drinks as well, due to "Thirsty Thursday's".

Have fun ya all and ride safe,
Sally
